As the TN Election 2026 draws closer, questions are growing about which party will form an alliance with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The biggest question in Tamil Nadu political news right now is whether the Congress party and TVK will come together, and if so, what decision TVK leader Vijay would take.
TVKVijay is preparing to face its first-ever Tamil Nadu Assembly election. With only a few months left for polling, the party has not yet officially announced any alliance. While some political observers say alliance talks are happening behind the scenes, there is no clear confirmation about which party TVK will join hands with. There is also speculation about whether TVK may contest the election alone if talks do not succeed.
At the same time, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Indian National Congress are expected to continue their alliance. Congress leaders are currently holding discussions with DMK on seat-sharing, and many believe this alliance will remain intact for the 2026 election as well.
However, if a split were to happen in the DMK–Congress alliance, there is talk that Congress could approach TVK. This has led to strong interest among voters and political circles about what Vijay’s response would be.
TVK leader Arunraj, speaking on behalf of the party, has clarified TVK’s position. He said that from the time the party was launched, TVK had already taken an important decision: any alliance must be led by TVK. According to him, the party believes that having a share in power and decision-making is essential to serve people effectively.
He also made it clear that this stand was not taken for positions or personal ambition, and not just to make other parties approach TVK. The aim, he said, is to ensure that public welfare is delivered without compromise. TVK feels that only by leading an alliance can it fully implement what it promises to the people.
If Congress were to invite TVK for an alliance, the final decision would be taken by Vijay himself. However, TVK has firmly stated that it will only be part of an alliance that works under Vijay’s leadership. This raises an important question: would Congress be willing to function under the leadership of a newly formed party?
While discussions around a TVK–Congress alliance continue, Congress leaders are actively engaged in talks with DMK. Because of this, many believe the DMK–Congress alliance is likely to continue in the upcoming election. On the other hand, which party TVK will align with—or whether it will contest alone—remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in political NEWS online and online Tamil NEWS platforms.
